Eurolux suggests that home owners invest in one or more of the following lighting products to ensure their safety and comfort around the home, especially during winter.
The first light to consider is the Eurolux FS84 – a portable emergency light featuring two fluorescent tubes with backup power supply that charges while plugged into the main power supply. Depending on which setting is selected, the lights can automatically switch on when the electricity supply fails, or it can be set to manual so that the user can switch the light on as needed.
You can further select whether one fluorescent tube will provide you with sufficient light, or if you need two. By using only one tube you have eight hours of battery life, while using two tubes halves the battery life. The lights can be mounted on a wall or ceiling, or can be carried around like a torch. Apart from charging it through the mains power supply, the battery can also be charged by plugging it into a car’s cigarette lighter jack - should a prolonged outage occur.
To extend the battery life, it is recommended to run the battery flat and recharge, every 3 months or so.
Eurolux’s ‘Stick N Click’ lights provide bright white light wherever needed – fast and easy. These compact yet powerful LED lights install in seconds just about anywhere light is needed. It is as simple as peeling and sticking. You can use these under the kitchen cabinet, in the car, next to your bed, in the bathroom or just carry it around with you. The black or satin chrome casing means that these lights will not detract from your décor in anyway, while the LED lamps ensure longer battery life than standard lamps. They are powered by a single set of three AAA batteries and are packaged in sets of three.
Another light to consider is the Eurolux ‘Stick Up Bulb’ – an amazing wireless light bulb that installs anywhere, requires no wiring and provides lighting whenever needed. Just peel and stick the base where needed then slide the bulb in. It takes four AA batteries and features a standard 1 Watt/6 Volt bulb. It is ideal to light up your closets, stairwells and anywhere that you need light. You can also use it outdoors in your shed or under your patio umbrella to provide light at night. During a power outage you can also unclip the lamp from the bracket and walk around with it to provide light.
The outdoors is not forgotten as many families turn to the much loved braai to prepare meat or even veggies during a power outage. Eurolux’s camping lanterns are designed for the outdoors but can be used with equal ease indoors. The lantern features a Ni-CAD battery, similar to that of the FS44, that charges while the mains is on and can also be charged by plugging it into a cigarette lighter jack. It offers four hours standby time and can be used to carry around or can be mounted to a ceiling or wall. A handheld remote means that you can fit it high enough to ensure a sufficient spread of light without worrying about reaching high enough to switch it on and off.
For those wanting to be prepared, emergency lights certainly are the way to go.
